Location of Job: Glendale, AZ
When: Aug 8, 2017
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Safe Opening
Brief Explanation

I love opening safes.

There is both a science and an art to solving these puzzles that I just really enjoy. So when I had a client call me up about an old safe he had, I was intrigued.

I thought he was talking about an old fire safe or even gun safe, but this was much more rare.

I Opened An Antique Safe in Glendale!

This client had an antique Triumph-labeled Mosler safe. Mosler was a company that made serious safes and bank-vaults until about 16 years ago. This one seems to be from the late 1800s.

They were renowned for their strength. In fact, several of their safes, installed in bank vaults in Hiroshima withstood the nuclear attack on that city! Talk about serious money protection!

Anyway, my customer had the combination to the main door, but the interior door required a key. Not just any key, but a flat steel key that they did not have. They called us to open it.

Since these antique safes aren't all that common, and after doing extensive research, I may be the only locksmith to open such a lock in over 20 years! I opened the antique safe and then I decode the lock so I can fabricate a new "Flat Steel Key" for it.

Call me if you have a safe that needs opening, especially and ancient safe like this! I love 'em.

When: Jun 11, 2015
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: House Lockout, Picked Locks, Opened Door, Unlock Door Service
Brief Explanation This service call came from a local resident in Glendale, AZ. This customer locked their keys in their house right before going to work. Upon trying to get back into the house to get his keys her realized that the house was locked and his keys were inside. This is when he contacted us to come out and unlock his house. We unlocked the house through the garage door by picking his 2 Kwikset locks. One of the locks was a deadbolt and the other was a door knob lock. We used our lock pick set and tension wrench to give him access again to his home.

I called several locksmiths in the area, I thought they were all nuts. I found old Glory and spoke with Corey. It was so refreshing to speak with someone who obviously cared about my needs, he also quoted me the best price plus after explaining the situation, he went out of his way to come that night and redo 5 locks. At 9:30 pm. Not only did he not charge me the emergency $100. Everyone else wanted, he gave me back 20 bucks cause it turned out less then he quoted. Absolutely one of those finds you want to tell everybody. Added him to my contacts first one I will call when in need.

On the day we moved in to our new home, I found out the hard way that our home has self-locking doors. I locked myself out (along with my mom and kids) with all keys and phones inside. I borrowed a neighbor's phone to call my husband, and told him to call Old Glory Locksmith since I had fortuitously researched locksmiths earlier that week and had made an appointment with Cory to rekey the house later that week. Cory arrived within 20 minutes, quickly let us inside, and offered to rekey the house right then too, to save us an additional service fee. We absolutely recommend Cory at Old Glory Locksmith, and I have a feeling we'll need him again thanks to these silly self-locking doors.

Deadbolts In Disrepair Are Dangerous!

Having your deadbolt lock in disrepair is a dangerous situation. This is because a malfunctioning deadbolt lock makes your property much less secure and more accessible to criminals. When your locks are giving you problems, we are here to help. Don’t hesitate to give us a call so that we can get your deadbolt lock repaired and you can go on about your day with less hassle and more assurance about the safety of your Glendale home or business.

Signs You Need Deadbolt Repair

Deadbolt locks have many moving parts, and sometimes those parts fall into disrepair. Old Glory Locksmith will come out to your Surprise home or business when you’re having troubles with your deadbolt, such as:

– Your key turns in the lock but the door is not locking. In this case, we may need to disassemble the lock to figure out which parts of the mechanism are causing your problem.

– In many cases, the lock bolt and the strike plate (which is attached to the doorjamb) are not in alignment. This can happen for a few reasons, including shifting of your building’s foundation, shifting position of the door hinges, or simply normal wear and tear of the door and the lock.

No matter the problem you are having with your deadbolt lock, let us take a look at it so we can quickly diagnose your issue and begin the repair process.

Why Deadbolt Repair Should Be Left To A Professional

When it comes to deadbolt lock repair, you generally have two options: you can try to fix the lock on your own, or you can call in the professionals here at Old Glory Locksmith. While a Google search may turn up a few tutorials on how to do your own lock repair, there are a few important reasons why you may want to avoid going this route and call a professional instead:

– Deadbolt locks may seem simple to operate, but they are not always so easy to fix. Repair may involve screws, power tools, and other things you may not know how to (or prefer not to) use. In this way, getting professional help saves time and hassle since you won’t have to worry about learning how to use the tools or fix the lock mechanisms.

– If you don’t know what you’re doing, you could end up making the lock less secure than it was before. A professional knows how to make sure that all of the mechanisms function as they should, and this will give you the peace of mind you need about the security of your Youngtown property.

– Your problem may not be with the lock. Instead, it may be an issue with a worn down key. If that is the case, a professional locksmith can direct you on where you can go to get a new key, and you won’t waste money on buying new locks.

– Sometimes repair is not possible, such as when the pins and tumblers become damaged. If your lock is beyond repair, a professional will advise you that it’s time to buy a new lock, and this will save you from wasting your time and money on a repair job.
